The Winning Looks at 2023 Golden Globes

The highly anticipated 2023 Golden Globes came fast and furious as starlets sauntered the red carpet in eye popping statement ensembles. Glitz seemed to be the theme of one tinsel town’s most popular nights out - and while some understood the assignment, some seemed to be absent in class that day. There were obvious looks that were undoubtedly on the best dressed list this year, but lets' talk about the real star of the show: Pleats.

Michelle Williams was draped in ruffles and bone colored pleats during the ceremony after only giving birth just a few weeks ago in December. The soft, finely folded pleats throughout the dress add dimension, intrigue and of course volume - but in elegant fluidity. That’s why the Marilyn accordion skirt feels like such a fresh take on what it means for our clothes to have movement. 

But our very own Wednesday, I mean, Jenna Ortega really shined in a floor-trailing Gucci pleated gown. The softness of the dress made a sea of rippling waves with every step she took on the red carpet. If a star wasn’t born before, she now has. 

While Zanna Roberts Rassi didn’t wear accordion pleats, her wide-pleat, ruffled midi dress gave us Marilyn vibes. The length and the feminine silhouette mixed with a harder edge was such an interesting juxtaposition to an otherwise classic silhouette. 

And now for some accordion pleats of the past...
