The Art of Repetition

I recall a time not long ago, somewhere between the age of greed and Canal Street, was a naive girl whose outfit was worth more on Ebay than she had in her checking account. Ever get your debit card declined for deli coffee? “Oh damn I left my other card at home…” I mutter, face turning red as I stuff the card back into a Celine wallet, Celine wallet into the Louis Vuitton Speedy 30, over the Love bangle wrist and out the glass doors in very-much-real crocodile boots. This is the price “no-repeat outfits” girls will pay. Poor-little-appears-to-be-rich girl can’t pay for coffee. Then it was time to grow up. Also, now that I'm more mature (debatable) there is something almost tacky about always wearing something new. The message leans towards being unsure of oneself - and that’s not very attractive. Besides displaying confidence, there lies a profound, often underappreciated, art in the repetition of outfits. To revisit and recycle the looks we cherish is more than a mere act of practicality; it’s a thoughtful dialogue between style and sentiment. Not to mention you will save like, so much money. Keep reading, it gets better. Repetition in fashion is often misconstrued as a lack of creativity or a sign of stagnation. In truth and often in reality, it reflects a deeper appreciation for the timeless. When we repeatedly wear our favorite outfits, we are engaging in exclamation points of our personal style. Plus, styling an item can always look different. The Donna buttondown can be worn in so many different ways on its own with just a few tweaks.  It’s an acknowledgment of the pieces that resonate with our identity, transcending come and go trends to find a unique place in our wardrobes. All the more reason to get to know yourself better and not be a copy-cat.

When we repeatedly wear these favored pieces, we do more than display our taste—we highlight our commitment to sustainability and authenticity. This repeated wear extends the lifecycle of garments, countering the fast fashion cycle and promoting a more conscious approach to consumption. This is exactly what the Classic Six ethos promotes in every thread that is woven.

Embracing the repetition of timeless outfits invites us to cultivate a more thoughtful wardrobe. It encourages us to invest in quality pieces (HI.) that we genuinely love and will continue to appreciate over time. This approach fosters a deeper connection with our clothing and encourages a more mindful shopping pattern, tipping the brim of our hat to simplicity and the power of personal style.
