Brand Spotlight: Jane Win

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Jane Win, the founder of the eponymous jewelry brand that has captivated hearts and sparked conversations around the world. Known for her bold, meaningful designs, Jane’s creations are not just accessories—they are a form of self-expression and empowerment. She describes the brand as if ‘Tiffany’s had a baby with Stevie Nicks and was raised by Goldie Hawn’ - sign us up! With a deep passion for craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail, she has built a brand that speaks to those who seek to wear their stories proudly. In this interview, Jane shares the inspiration behind her creative and chic designs, where she sees the brand in 5 years time, and her personal favorites. Read below to find out!

Where and when was the brand founded?

We were founded in 2017 in Wayne, PA – we just celebrated our 7th birthday and although we are a national brand, we are very #phillyproud!

What was the catalyst in starting the brand?

Having worked in fashion for over 20 years, and having always done both design and marketing, I saw a space in the market for jewelry that connected with the wearer in the semi-fine space. It's the concept of the product that inspired me - I dreamt of these gold coins that you held on to in a time of need, purchased for yourself to celebrate an accomplishment, or proudly gifted to a friend. I knew women would love it, and I wanted to create something delightful - that exceeded expectations.

Was there a design/fashion muse you can tell us about?

We like to say in the office, the brand is like ‘Tiffany’s had a baby with Stevie Nicks and was raised by Goldie Hawn’. What does that mean? Proud to be an individual, layers of gold jewelry, classic with a bohemian energy. Independent, Creative. Chic. Warm.

What is the dream for the brand in the next 5 years?

I want to keep doing exactly what we are doing, creating jewelry with meaning that has a distinct point of view – all based around our coins. I see us expanding our fine jewelry assortment. I would LOVE to have a few jewel box stores in some of my favorite places.

QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU

Do you have a favorite collection or piece to date?

I have always loved coins, hence the collection, but the snakes in PROTECT and all of the lucky symbols in the LUCKY collection are always what I gravitate towards. Right now, I can’t take off our latest coin called Grace we launched in January 1st as our ‘word’ for the year.

What’s your favorite thing in your closet right now?

Oddly, FLATS. I used to onlyyyyyy wear boots and heels but all of a sudden I am loving a flat slide, sometimes a kitten heel. ‘Low’ feels timeless and chic. High heels are feeling a little cheesy to me. I’ll probably be sentenced to some shoe jail for saying that!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Never play dumb. Ahhh that really hit home. I used to have a sticker on my laptop that said 'I’m too pretty to do math’ and one day a co-worker who I really looked up to said to me, 'don’t play dumb, you aren’t'. As a woman I think I tried to be funny and cute – pretending like I didn’t have a master plan (ha ha!). I do have a vision, I do the strategy and the work to build things… and it’s good to own that.

Is there one unforgettable defining time in your career that changed you?

There isn’t one… but the same thing happening over and over that has really changed my perspective. When I go for it, when I ask for the responsibility… I can get it. When I worked at Barneys in my 20’s I would pitch ideas to the head of PR everyday – ‘written memos’. One day he turned to me and said, “Janie – just DO IT.” Much later when I was at Lilly Pulitzer I wanted to be a Vice President before I hit 40 years old and I prepared a PowerPoint presentation pitching myself for the job. I sat the CEO and President down and telling them why I would be great at the role. Those moments where you know you have the idea/vision/experience to do something, and you really put yourself out there…you just have to do that all the time.

Who is your style icon?

I am not sure I have one icon but I respect, I am drawn to women who do things their own way. Who have a signature style, or who aren’t afraid to consistently be themselves. Less trend and more individuality. Meryl Streep. Diane Von Furstenberg. Elsa Peretti. Kate Winslet. Anne Hathaway. Emma Stone. Right now, Pamela Anderson for not wearing make-up. It’s not what they wear, it’s how they chose to be themselves that’s iconic.

If you could be from any other decade (or era), which would it be?

I would not change one single thing about my life. No matter what happens in this weird decade, I am here for it.

Best gift you’ve ever received?

This sounds so predictable but being a Mom is what I was put on this earth to do, it is the gift to end all gifts. I LOVE being a parent to young women…I have one step-son and do my best, but my 2 daughters – my 2 step-daughters…they are all the gift of the lifetime.

If you had to pick one Classic Six piece, what would it be? I LOVE ALL! That’s the point right? I think I lean towards shift dress, I have always been a dress girl. But the white shirt and the linen sweater are a close second – they show off your Jane Win neck-mess of pendants!
